Hanoi’s Old Quarter opens more walking streets
Aiming to serve tourists’ exploration of
Hanoi’s Old Quarter on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights,
six more pedestrian streets have been launched on October 3rd, according to the People Committee of Hoan Kiem District.
06 news walking streets are Hang Buom, Ma May, Hang Giay, Luong Ngoc Quyen, Ta Hien and Dao Duy Tu streets, which are linked to the existing Hang Dao-Dong Xuan pedestrian road. ![]() Bia Hoi at Ta Hien walking street is a familiar gathering place for foreigners Visitors who join a walking tour around Hanoi’s Old Quarter can visit many historical relics dating back to the 18th-19th century, for example Bach Ma Temple, Quan De and Huong Tuong along with houses of old architecture typical of Hanoi. Besides, visitors can have a chance to enjoy the performances of traditional music “hat xam” (minstrel songs), “chau van” (spiritual singing), and “ca tru” (ceremonial singing) as well as jazz, along the old streets. In September, the 300-meter Hang Buom Street was turned into a cuisine street, which serves Hanoi traditional confectionery and beverage and some European and Asian dishes to satisfy both domestic and foreign visitors coming to the night market along the Hang Dao- Dong Xuan route during weekend nights. Recently, according to Trip Advisor, the Hanoi’s Old Quarter has been listed among the best 95 attractions in the capital in 2014. |
