Official Don Ca Tai Tu Festival firstly opened

“Don Ca Tai Tu”, which was recognized as the World’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, was performed in the first official festival, taking place in the southern province of Bac Lieu on April 24th. The festival saws the participations of artists from 21 provinces and cities in the region.
The festival featuredvariety of activities, including the performances of “Don Ca Tai Tu” at the Ho Nam eco-tourism site in Bac Lieu City. Meanwhile, a tourism and trade fair, held to introduce the specialties of regional localities including traditional farm products of rice and seafood brought by the host Bac Lieu are being exhibited at the even organizing until April 29th. A six-day exhibition on ornamental trees and a food festival are also taking place during the festival. The national Don Ca Tai Tu festival is scheduled to be held triennially across southern provinces in turn.  Don Ca Tai Tu first official festival took place in Bac Lieu from April 24th “Don Ca Tai Tu”, known as a musical art that has both scholarly and folk roots, appeared in the southern of Vietnam in the late 19th century. It’s a kind of impromptu art which praises the creativity and artistry of the performers. The 8th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural on December 5th, 2013 saw the acknowledgement of Don Ca Tai Tu as an intangible cultural heritage of the world. Additionally, this music genre was added to the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013 as it has been influenced by other forms of cultural heritage from the central and southern regions of Vietnam, including “nhac le” (ceremonial music) and “hat boi” (classical theatre and folk singing).
